PLENTY OF FISH IN THE SEA

Solo exhibition
24-26.02.2023, BLANCO, Gent

I was told there are plenty of fish in the sea, so I went and had a look for myself.

Before diving myself I only knew the underwater world from ‘Blue planet’ or Jacques Cousteau. Vast and colourful landscapes beneath the water teeming with life. My own experience was different though. Colour changes quickly the deeper you descend. Losing vibrancy the world around you can start to look more like a black and white image. Especially in murky Belgian or Dutch waters.

A series of works was created showing my first hand experience of the results of overfishing and climate change. Colours where added to monochrome images implying the presence or the lack of life in these landscapes.
